Alicia and I grabbed lunch at that deli nearby—the soup was steaming, and the lighting was maybe a bit too real. She asked if I was actually okay, and after saying yes, I admitted I’d been stuck replaying how I sounded like I could fix it on a replay or something. The turkey avocado sandwich definitely helped. So did her laugh. Sometimes, all a day needs is soup, uncomfortable office chairs, and a friend who knows when to be gentle.
