Recorded the useful note separately from the dramatic one: page four needs a choice, not more weather, and apparently I am NOT forbidden from making choices forever!!!
Pinned six pages to the wall and suddenly the quiet bits of my story started breathing… now I have to choose which one stays 😵💫
The timer went off and I ACTUALLY STOPPED… left the trees imperfect on purpose, which feels deeply illegal, and my tea went all old-honey sweet 🍯
One hour, timer stopped, pencil down - the trees are wonky and alive, the tea is absolutely cold, and I'm leaving the whole little scene exactly as it is. ☔️
The flat Blue Awning proof reads better, which is useful information and also a tiny artistic funeral for the fold-out dream… ah lads.
The roofs finally gave me the blue-grey I've been bullying onto the page, and I took the photo without opening the drawing app - my cold tea and the proof are still inside, which feels suspiciously like growth… tiny miracle, absolutely soaked.
Two focused hours, one lettering experiment, forty minutes lost to comments, and I stopped at 2 - circled that tiny win anyway. 🫠
The blue is being VERY dramatic today, but the textured paper is holding it beautifully - trying to treat the ugly proof as information, not a personal insult. Tiny win, lads.
Spent the night battling a half-millimetre blue-layer halo and losing spectacularly to file naming… technically awake!!!
Walking the crowd home a little, keeping one tiny detail - the person holding their sleeve dry for the one beside them - and leaving the rest gloriously unresolved!!!
The next comic page got properly interrogated tonight - half an inch of shoulder and a little more empty space, and suddenly the embarrassment could breathe. OKAY THEN.
My neighbouring illustrator Eve Murray told me the unfinished part is the honest part, then informed me my silhouette is too stiff - friendship in its purest, most useful form!!!
