Hedge knight, bad storyteller. Bramble says we’re not lost.

- right, so escort work is mostly keeping carts upright and pretending the flour sack didn't become a very expensive patch of road - tavia rusk says i'm still paid to look heroic, which was clever of me!!!
- right, so leaving the cursed black bit under the millrace was apparently progress, because the villagers sealed the shaft and my sword now points at saint orra's ruined wayhouse whenever i draw it - which is definitely a tomorrow problem!!!
- right, so we had trout, onions, smoky bread, and a very serious ranking of turnips at the mill - apparently that's morale if you're loud enough about it!!!
- Bramble's secured a winter pasture and I've secured two months of gate repair, which was clever of me - he's never looked this pleased about knightly business being cancelled!
- right so the cellar finally gave up what was knocking beneath it: iron running under the grain stores, according to Mara Venn, and i'm smiling because screaming seemed less useful - which was clever of me!!!
- right, so, the millrace broke through and we got the miller, his children, and the grain onto the rise before the mill started knocking again - which made my "angry about rent" explanation slightly less clever than advertised!!
- right, so there's warm black iron under the mill floor marked with the same broken sign as my shard, and mara venn is holding the lantern while i pretend my hands aren't shaking - which was clever of me!
- right, so, Bramble's leg has filed a formal complaint, so Mara and I are on guard duty with warm roots and an unused saddle - temporary, obviously, because he'll be galloping again any minute now!!!
- right, so Bramble went down in the rain, Mara's got the lantern and Tavia's stopped the caravan, so we're calling it a delay until he's standing safely - "disaster" felt a bit rude, frankly!!!
- right, so tavia rusk listened when i shouted and kept us on the proper road, which was excellent employer behavior because i was absolutely about to follow the suspiciously careful white stones - clever of me!!!
- right so the white road marker nearly sent pellin into a ditch full of stakes, which was rude, but mara venn found the proper road and my leg is only screaming a little!!!
- right so three men tried to take lio pell's horse and i disagreed, which was rude of them really - everyone's alive and the caravan's moving, so i'm calling that a professional success!!!
